About us

The Making Changes for Careers programme is an exciting enterprise programme aimed at young people aged 16-29 who are not in employment, education or training who would like to start their own business.

The programme gives young people the opportunity to find out more about the ‘Big 13’ Enterprise Skills, as well as having the chance to access grants from the John Cracknell Youth Enterprise Bank in order to develop their business ideas. 

Young people will also have the opportunity to access an experienced business mentor who will be on hand to offer expert advice and guidance.

    Our friendly and supportive staff, alongside a vast network of business/industry links and mentors, are here to guide you in all aspects of starting up - from developing a business idea, accessing grant funding and setting up a company to marketing your new business, getting that first sale and making the most of the latest industry developments. 

  • Learner Support

    Group Work, 1:2:1 business advice and support including help with business plans and grant funding applications, Sage Training, CEIAG, Minimum of 6 months sustainment support.

  • Activities

    The ‘Big 13’ Enterprise Skills Training – Training workshops designed to help young people develop an explicit understanding of the ‘Big 13’ skills. They will help them to develop their confidence and communication; they will challenge and inspire and as a result the young people will become more enterprising as they progress either into employment or self-employment.

    Finer Business Training – Provides the young people with the skills and knowledge that they need to be able to write a quality business plan.

    One – to –One Business Support sessions – Ongoing 1:2:1 support from business advisors. This gives the young people the information and training required to finalise their business plan and make any relevant applications for funding.

    Level 1 Award in Computerised Accounting for Business (QCF) - This Level 1 qualification provides you with an introduction to computerised accounting software, bookkeeping and banking procedures. Upon registration, you will be provided with a study pack, which includes: access to comprehensive, interactive online learning support materials, a FREE copy of the latest Sage 50 Accounts professional software (for 6 months) a FREE printed copy of the course Knowledge training book which can be retained for reference, a FREE printed copy of the course Sage Skills training book which can be retained for reference, access to expert support and practice exercises
